Day 1 Carpe Diem

Seasonal

She hunches ridgetop, the moon,
like tired hunches in the blood,
the hand we cannot lift,
the lame excuse. All of us sick
of something. Everything. It.
In the morning, a bitter cup,
rain. Our town’s a little ball
of mud. Some seed, some puny
sun and the grasses come green,
no matter what we have
or haven’t done.
